Changing opening of default

On opening my explorer or saving a file I am automatically taken to my
documents on drive C. I have all my data on drive d. How do I change the
default opening saving to my desired loaction?

Same way as in XP:

Right-click on the Windows Explorer icon, select Properties and type or
copy/paste the following into the Target box:

%systemroot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:

You can also create a Desktop icon for Windows Explorer with the same
command.

Re: Changing opening of default

Thats the correct solution but wrong text. That wont change anything:
The switch (after the "/" should be e, D: (There should be a space between the e, and the D You can insert any path you like at the end, or even make several shortcuts to different folders and place them on the desktop.

Hi Zk07,

This tutorial will show you how to change the default opening location for Windows Explorer.

Re: Changing opening of default

Great, this works if you navigate the start menu to Explorer, but how can
you change the default target if you launch Explorer by right clicking on
the start button and selecting Explore ?

Thanks

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not
sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Hi Andre,

The Explore for the right click (context menu) for the Start button is meant to open to the Start menu's All Programs shortcut area. I do not know how to change the path for it, but this tutorial will show you how you can add another option to the Start menu's context menu that you can have open anywhere you like.

Start Menu - Customize Context Menu
