    Selecting File Extensions

Does anyone know how to select a filename including an extension in Vista?
I'm sure there must be an option to change the way it no longer selects the
file extension. I'm happy to change registry settings etc to get the old
    functionality back.

Every time i try to copy and paste a filename or change a file to a .bat or
..htm this new feature trips me up.

    TIA
