Unable to delete 2 files from Desktip

I have 2 files that just will not delete from my desktop. they both say they
are open in another program even when there is nothing else running at all.
One is a screensaver file and one is the itunes setup file. They just will
not move I cant wipe them nor delete them. I have put them both in search and
they do not show up anywhere else except on the desktop. Can some one please
help I am new to Vista and I already dont like it.

RE: Unable to delete 2 files from Desktip

1. Open an elevated command prompt by clicking Start > All Programs >
Accessories and right-click Command Prompt, then ‘Run as Administrator’.
From the prompt type CD %userprofile%\Desktop and press Enter, now type del
name (where name is the file to be removed, e.g. abc.def) and press Enter.
This should remove the file. If it does not, then keep the command prompt
open and
2. Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. On the Processes Tab, select the
explorer.exe process and end it to halt the desktop. Switch to the command
prompt window and retry the del command. Now go to the Application Tab of
Task Manager and pick 'new task'. Enter explorer.exe and click 'OK' to
restart the desktop.
