| | Re: Lost Notebook in Vista Right Click New Tab Leroy Copy the text between the 2 dashed lines. Click Start/All Programs/Accessories/Notepad and paste the text into Noptepad. Click File/Save As and save the file as text.reg to your desktop. Right click the file and select the Merge option. Click yes on the registry prompts. Close everything and reboot the computer. This should add the New/Text Document back to that menu. --------------------------------------------------------- Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\ShellNew] "ItemName"=hex(2):40,00,25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,6f,00,\ 6f,00,74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,\ 00,6e,00,6f,00,74,00,65,00,70,00,61,00,64,00,2e,00,65,00,78,00,65,00,2c,00,\ 2d,00,34,00,37,00,30,00,00,00 "NullFile"="" ---------------------------------------------------------- -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Leroy Forbes" <leroy.4bz@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:61A50BEB-39DB-49A4-A0A1-163A5BC8911D@xxxxxx Quote: > That is what I was trying the explain, I have no open new text document, I > have all the usual stuff I.e. new folder, shortcuts, word docs, and so on, > but for some reason, no new text file. > thanks for answering so quickly > > "Ronnie Vernon MVP" <rv@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:97CCC9D4-AA16-4A77-AC9F-477838153915@xxxxxx Quote: >> Leroy >> >> When you right click, select New / Text Document.
