Vista does not handle RAR by default, only ZIP files. You can use the free program 7-Zip to do this in Vista. I have not had any problems with it. After installing it, open the 7-Zip File Manager program and click Tools -> Options, then select the file types you want 7-Zip to handle. 7-Zip Shawn |

| | Re: problem with uncompressing a RAR file Expansion of RAR files is not native to Vista (or any other version of Windows that I am aware of) so you will have to obtain third party software to do the job. Stuffit Expander is free and can expand RAR and many other compression formats: http://www.stuffit.com/win/expander/index.html . Gene K |
