Retrieving lost info

I mistakingly saved a blank document over my original document. How would I
be able to retrieve it?

Re: Retrieving lost info

From your backup.
Or, if you have Vista Ultimate, I believe it keeps versions of files.

Leslie

It's not clear what you did?

If you saved a blank document with the same name as another existing
document and selected to replace that existing document, then I don't know
of a way to retrieve the original document.

Re: Retrieving lost info

Hi, Leslie.

If you right-click on the document file (in Windows Explorer, for example),
then click Restore Previous Versions (or Properties | Previous Versions),
you MIGHT be able to retrieve the original version. This needs to be done
soon, of course, before too many later versions are written over the
original.

I haven't had to do this, thank goodness, but I've heard that it often
works. Please report back with your experience, especially if it works!
