| vista64 | Consistent Folder Views ?? Ok. I'm sick and tired of Vista periodically and randomly changing folder views on me. One day, Windows Explorer will show c:\temp in a detail view. The next, it will decide to apply the "Pictures and Videos" template and it will be in large icons. I won't have changed anything in the folder. Not a single new, modified or deleted file. It is by far my greatest annoyance. I've searched around, and found solutions to "reset" Vista's folder "training." But this is a temporary fix - Vista always gets screwy after a few days. Does anyone have any good ideas for fixing Vista's Explorer behavior? Ideally, Vista would apply the templates in a logical maner (ie. not using the "Music Icons" template for a folder with no music files, or the "Pictures and Videos" template for folder full of nothing but mp3's). Baring that soluion, I would be ok with Vista defaulting to my chosen "All Items" view for every folder, and only using a different view if I have told Vista to do so. Baring that, is there a way to just force Vista to look at every folder using my chosen "All Items" view? Thanks, ltwally |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Consistent Folder Views ?? Hi Itwally, Method Two in this tutorial will show you how to fix the problem for now. If the cause of the problem gets triggered again, just reapply the download to make it easier to do. Currently the exact cause is unknown, only the fix. Windows Explorer Folder View settings Shawn |

| vista64 | Re: Consistent Folder Views ?? I've used the quick-fixes listed there. The fix is short-lived, and in my opinion, not worth fiddling with. Resetting all the views is annoying - especially if I have to do it every few days. I'm looking for a more permanent solution - even if it meant going backwards to an Explorer like the one that came with Win2000 would be an improvement than having Vista fubar the views on a constant, seemingly random basis. Thanks. |
