folder structure disappears in Windows Explorer after clicking folder

Dear all,

When I open Windows Explorer I see the regular folder structure on the right side. (See pic)

However, when I click a folder (doesn't matter which one) the folder structure disappears and I get only the clicked folder contents in the window (in this case the folder "Drivers"). (see pic)

This is opposite how it worked on my computer with Windows XP.

Anyone an idea how to enable that I always see the folder structure in the right window and that when I click a folder I see the contents in the left window? could it be a registry setting or something in local policies?

Thx!

John

Re: folder structure disappears in Windows Explorer after clicking folder

Hi John,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

You can reset the Folder View settings so Vista will remember the changes again. See Method Two here.

Windows Explorer Folder View settings

You can also turn the Navigation Pane back on for it, and change the "View" back to "Details".

Hope this helps you,

I am experiencing the same problem as John regarding the tree structure
disappearing when you click on a folder or drive. I would appreciate
any help you can give me (your reply to his post was not displayed).

Thanks,

Jay
