Vista - Reloading Windows Explorer ?

The folders in my Windows Vista Explorer program has become unmanageable.
Somehow, while trying to foolishly get the program to display just the
folders I need (what a concept) folders have multiplied, duplicated, and
often will not let me delete or move them. For example, I think I now have
more than six "Desktop" folders and subfolders scattered around. At this
point all I would like to do is reset the system to the way it was when I got
the computer. If this requires reloading all of my software, so be it.
Following suggestions from various places for how to fix the problem have
actually made it worse. Even attempting to contact Microsoft service online
(what a concept) hits a dead end, because the support system doesn't even
recognize my Vista product ID, even though the website informs me that the
product is active.

Do I have any good options? Do I need to reload Vista entirely to solve this?

System Recovery will reset the system to the way it was when you got the
computer.

SF

Contact the system manufacturer, where you bought the computer. ZThey are
responsible for supporting that version of Vista. They should be able to
walk you through the process of restoring to factory defaults.
