| | folding folders by default in explorer Hi all, problably an easy question for most of you, When I start the explorer from the startmenu (right mouse button > explorer) the explorer opens and unfolds thereby several folders. The list seems to get longer every time. Folding the folders and reopening explorer does not help. I have to scroll up every time to get to the main folders of 'my computer'. How can I change the default status of unfolded folders? Thx, Bas |

Thx, Bas This will show you how to change the Windows Explorer shortcut so it will open like Computer (in the Start menu) without opened or expanded folders in the folder tree. Use: "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe C:\,/select" (no quotes) Windows Explorer Default Opening Shawn |

| | Re: folding folders by default in explorer The issue is how you are starting explorer not explorer itself. See when you right click on the start menu button it thinks you want to browse the Start Menu location not the Root of your Computer. This action can't be changed that I'm aware of. Some other comments here will show you how to get a shortcut to the location you want.
