Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Comput

Hi All

There was a folder (my own data folder) on my desktop which I had tried to
delete to no avail.
Always got the message saying the file was used by some process.
Then I found out from somewhere on the web that I had to disable the Windows
Search Service. I disabled the Windows Search service and delete all the
files in the folder, including Windows.edb, tmp.edb, etc.

After that, when I tried to restart the Windows Search Service, I got this
error:

Vista Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Computer
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Can anybody help?

I searched the Internet but couldn't find any help

Hi cm_gui,

Try this to see if it can get the Windows Search service started again.

forgot to mention that now whenever i create a folder or file or rename a
folder or file, Windows freezes for up to 30 seconds.
