More Weird Windows Explorer Behaviour

Getting Windows Explorer to remember customized folder options has been a
huge pain in th a$$ from day one. I have tried all of the recommended
"fixes", but nothing has worked over the long-term. At this point, I have
pretty much learned to live with it.

Today, Explorer decided to throw a new quirk into the mix. I have a Temp
folder that I use for holding video and audio files temporarily during
editing. As soon as I put a multimedia file in the directory, it changes
from Document mode (which I want) to Picture/Video mode (which I don't want).
Fine. I change the view setting back to Document. I then went to my Videos
folder in My Documents, which is supposed display Picture/Video thumbnails,
only to find that it had changed to Document mode. I reset it back to
Picture/Video mode, did my editing, and returned to the Temp folder. It had
decided to default back to Picture/Video mode. Crap. I reset it to Document
mode. This reset my Videos folder settings.

The two folders are located on different physical drives...changing view
settings of one should have no impact on the other. Other folders containing
videos that have been set to display in Picture/Video mode are not affected.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this particular behaviour. If
so, did you find away to fix it?
