Vista - ecache.sys file corrupt

I can't start Windows Vista. I have a problem similiar to:

I am sure that this file "ecache.sys" is the cause of that. I also have
XP on the same computer, so I tried replacing that file (with the one
from my friends system - exactly the same size). Apparently, whatever I
do with it I get a note saying that I can't access that file. Programs
like "Move on Boot" doesn't worked.

What can you advise?
