Delete unwanted shortcuts

I am creating a new Vista SP1 build and am trying to get rid of some unwanted
shortcuts.

I need to get rid of Windows Mail and Windows Media player from Start All
Programs.

I have been able to delete these from C:\Program
Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. However each time a new user
signs on a shortcut for Windows Mail and Windows Media player appear in Start
Menu All programs.

I am able to right click and delete however I want to be able to script the
removal of these or stop the creation for an unattended.

Any ideas how these are created or where they are stored?

RE: Delete unwanted shortcuts

Dave, bad news :-
1. I'm sure you know you were just " deleting " , not " un-installing ",
therefore, anyone can bring them back via search box.
2. From what I know, WindowsMail in particular, those 2 programs are PART OF
THE WINDOWS VERSION, and therefore can NOT BE CHANGED OR UNINSTALLED.
NOW the good news, you can change the PERMISSION to use the programs :-
Right click on Windows Mail > click PROPERTIES > click SECURITY > click EDIT
you can decide ALLOW or DENY catagories. I had gone through those steps
before I wrote to you, except the Allow or Deny options because I want them.
Give it a try and see if it works this time. Good luck.
