Delete large file - lose whole folder and other files

The following problem has occured while deleting large files (150MB-600MB), in two seperate folders (one the "user/Downloads" folder and one that I created under "user/".

I delete a large file and ALL the files AND subfolders in the folder disappear!!!. Really!! I click on a file that I did not delete and I get a message (something like) that the file system cannot access the file because it is not there. Then the screen refreshes and all my files and subfolders are gone!!! EMPTY!!! In the case of the folder under "user" that I created, that folder (that contained the file I deleted) disappeared as well.

In the process I usually also lose about 5-10GBs of disk space that is unaccounted for.

Please help. It is the 3rd time it happened and now I really lost the files.

How can I make VISTA stop this???

What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems.

Re: Delete large file - lose whole folder and other files

McAfee is known to cause problems in Vista. Sometimes they don’t show up
immediately.
Replace McAfee with the free AVG http://free.grisoft.com/ or Avast
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and Windows Firewall and Windows
Defender. Disabling McAfee is not enough. You need to completely uninstall
it.
