| | Vista File Content Search of Network Drives I was trying to resolve a user’s error today in regards to searching the contents of an excel 2003 file. They are looking for a specific phrase within that file which XP can find and it seems Vista can not. This file is on a networked, non-indexed, drive. I followed these steps I right clicked on the folder to be searched and chose search I went into the search options and told it to search contents of files for non-index files I chose advanced search and checked the box to search non-indexed, hidden, system files. I typed in the term 1656 and nothing comes up If I go to XP and do search within file contents and type in the term 1656 the two excel files containing that value show up. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a flaw in the searching mechanism? |
