Making Temp Folder Writable

HI. I'm trying to install adobe reader 8 from my dvd, and whenever it tries
to write, it says:"Temp folder need permission to be written to".
I've tried changing the read-only to unchecked, but as soon as I exit the
screen, it changes back. The installler doesn't let me select a folder to
install to, so I need to know how to change the temp folder to writable
temporarily.

I'm not sure why you would be installing Reader from a DVD. Are you sure you
don't mean Adobe Acrobat Standard? Or perhaps you just have the Reader
executable saved on DVD for some reason?

If you are really trying to install Acrobat Standard, instead of allowing
the install DVD to autorun try opening the drive folder and right-click on
the installable executable. It is probably called something like
"setup.exe". Then choose "run as Administrator". This is a guess on my
part. If you really are trying to install Acrobat Standard, you might want
to look on Adobe's website or call their tech support if my suggestion
doesn't work. After all, this is a $300 (at least) program so you should
get some support with it!

If you are trying to install Reader from a DVD, right-click/drag/copy the
installer executable to the Desktop. I haven't had to do the
right-click/run as Administrator with Reader but it won't hurt.
