| | Recreating Documents Folder I seem to have accidentally erased my Documents folder. I have my documents stored on another machine, and had to reconfigure my second machine. In the process of redirecting my Documents folder to the new location, I deleted it somehow. Now, when I go to install software and some updates, it can't find the Documents folder. I've tried to simply create a new folder, but it doesn't allow me the option to change the contects location. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

The default location for the folder is C:\Users\(Username)\Documents. This works for Favorites and other system User folders such as Music. | | Re: Recreating Documents Folder Unfortunately, for some reason this did not work on my machine. When I type in "shell ersonal" nothing happens; it can't find anything. When I try iton another machine, I see what's supposed to happen. Am I going to have to reinstall Vista? | | Re: Recreating Documents Folder Also I need you to look in the Registry for the following Key. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders] "Personal"="C:\\Users\\YourName\\Documents" Make sure you have the string value "Personal" The YourName above will be the name you gave to your system, so the above is just an example. Post the exact path that you see in your Registry. -- All the best, SG Is your computer system ready for Vista? https://winqual.microsoft.com/hcl/ "bmatthews" <bmatthews@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:80E80A2C-2786-4F81-9ECC-21FB3A9598A3@xxxxxx Quote: >I seem to have accidentally erased my Documents folder.
