| | explorer and folders created by other programs I created a download folder for gigatribe. From gigatribe I can find the folder and its contents, but not through explorer. A similar issue happened with VuePrint, the photo editing/managing software that I use. If I move something to an existing folder I can find the file. If I create a file with VuePrint then it and its contents remain hidden. Any ideas? |

My guess is that you're creating these folders in an area protected by the operating system such as Program Files instead of somewhere in your user account. If you're not making your folders in %systemdrive%\Users\your-username\new-folder then try doing that instead. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |

| | Re: explorer and folders created by other programs The files are hidden because the application is trying to write to a system protected part of the operating system, most likely inside Program Files. In order to enable backwards compatability, we allow applications to think that they're saving files to Program Files, but we're actually saving the files to an alternate path within C:\Users\User_name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. If you navigate to the folder within an explorer window that contains files in this location, you should see at "Compatability Files" link the commands bar in the explorer window that will navigate to the associated "VirtualStore" directory. Please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927387 for more information.
