| | Search Indexer Option buttons greyed out Hi, following an exchange of movable discs I wanted to update the settings of Windows Search Indexing. The frame for setting the Options remains empty, 'waiting for receiving indexingstatus' (or similar) . Change and Advanced buttons are greyed out. The service is running and shown in Device Task Manager. Any suggestions howto activate/repair the settings buttons again? Looking forward, Maria Vista Home Premium, no SP1 yet |

Hope it works for you too. | | Re: Search Indexer Option buttons greyed out ** SOLVED** THank you. In my case the diagnosis "Additionally, the Windows Desktop Search service does not start." was not true i.e. it was running albeit unsuccessful. The Index - Windows Search Service of which chapter 2, "Reset the Index in the Registry:" did the trick.
