2nd Drive not accessible.

Hi all.

I have a bit of an issue with a second drive.
  • I have the main drive C. 500gb
  • A second drive F (internal) 500gb
  • A network drive via Router.
I'm using a programme called Lightroom from Adobe. The programme copies photos from compact flash to F as a main storage for new photos. It automatically backs up to the network drive and for interest, the compact flash cards are copied in case of disaster.

I did a wedding shoot on saturday and loaded the photos through lightroom, around 10 gigs worth; 900 photos.

Later in the day I went to use lightroom but it didn't respond. I restarted only to find that chkdsk kicked in to check F. The problem is that it hangs during stage 2 of 3. Stage 1 shows 0 bad files, 0 EA records and 0 reparse records.

I have followed some of the tutorials linked to this sort of issue and am still getting the same result.

I have:
  • run scannow (no issues)
  • chkdsk on C runs and found a few errors that seems to be fixed.
  • tried to chkdsk F via Vista ultimate x64 disk but cannot "lock"? or the drive is undergoing a process. Either way, chkdsk could not run F. I had noticed a promp asking if I wanted to dismount! Well I ride horses occasionally, but I wasn't riding at this stage..... so I wasn't sure and declined.
Other programmes have been affected and the system tray doesn't show all the programmes that are normally listed there.

When going to "my computer" F is listed however no details are shown and the system hangs if I try to access. I'm very familiar with XP and have fixed several friends' computers, but Vista is somewhat different, so am writing in.

I'm wondering if there is a link on here to show how to work around this?

The system I'm using is a Chillblast system ;link - Chillblast :: Systems :: Workstations :: Chillblast Fusion Photo OC II

Thanks in advance..

Steve
