I used to have the following list of files that should be backed up in XP:
c:\Windows\AllUsers
c:\Windows\ApplicationData
c:\Windows\Desktop
c:\Windows\Favorites
c:\Windows\SendTo
c:\Windows\StartMenu



Anyone care to suggest an alternative list for backing up in Vista please?

You can't backup the registry without doing a system state backup. You also want to do a shadow copy backup to pick up .Net entries. You can only copy data files that are not open.

Use the backup and restore to get the system state properly backed up.

Thanks for your reply. Are you saying that Vistas own backup utility ensures
that all important files are backed up now?

Use an image based backup program.
