| Vista Ultimate 32bit | zip files automatically extract in vista temp folder! Hi, I'm running a Vista Ultimate 32-bit with all the latest updates. Recently, I have noticed that whenever I re-boot the system, the zip files stored on my PC automtically extract to the Temp folder located at Users\USERNAMEAppdata\Local\Temp. For example, if the zip file name is FILENAME.zip, a temp folder is created here called Temp1_FILENAME.zip, and this folder contains the extracted contents of the original zip file. Since I had recently installed the latest version of Google Desktop Search, I thought GDS is extracting these files since I have the Search Archives (Zip) option enabled. However, even after disabling this search option, the extracted zip files keep appearing in the same format whenever I re-boot. This happens even after deleting the files temp files using Ccleaner or other cleaning utilities. Any idea why this is happening, and how do I disable it? Could Windows Search be the culprit? Look forward to any advice on this. Last edited by taps007; 06-13-2008 at 12:52 AM.. |

| | Did you ever find out what it was? I'm having the sameexact problem. I thought the files were coming from my downloads folder but they seemed to be coming from locations accross all four of my hard drives. I uninstalled several programs, including istallshield creator, adobe reader and a few games that used zip archives to read from. This is something I've never seen before so any insight would be greatly appreciated. |
