Vista - Opening Word files from Desktop in Vista Home Premium

After Vista Home Premium SP1 I cannot open Word files through desktop
Documents. If I open Word I can bring up files without any difficulty from
there. Also can't open attachments on Windows Mail. Was ok before sp1 but
this may be coincidence. Any advice? Rod.

Which version of Word you're using?
What's the error message you're getting when opening .doc/.docx files?

Thanks Ramesh Repair didn't work. I got down to View file association
report, but it doesn't let me copy, only paste, so I don't know how I can
copy the contents to you. Is there a simple way to do this that I haven't
noticed.

Backup the following key and delete it.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.8\shell\Open\command]

Then set the (default) value to:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" /n "%1"
