| | How to set default search results columns? Hi all, When performing a search in Vista the results show the (thoroughly confusing and useless) "Folder" column. How can I *permanently* set this to the "Folder path" column. It would also be nice to get rid of the 'Author' and 'Tags' columns. Sean. PS. Seriously, who thought that the format 'foldername (full path to folder)' was in any way readable or quickly comprehensible? No matter how many times I see it in this format I mis-read it. It makes no sense at all. |

| | Re: How to set default search results columns? You're right. There are loads of other things in Vista/2008 that seem to have implemented by absolute beginners in the job: http://groups.google.de/group/micros...df01c017712afd I honestly believe there's been a new generation of programmers at Redmond at the start that had been let loose while all experienced ones retired at once... That must be the reason why there are so many useful - and common - things missing in Vista. Vista has become a big iPod, but not an operating system to work with. | | Re: How to set default search results columns? Sean Have you tried experimenting with View, Choose Details in Windows Explorer. Loads of little boxes to check or uncheck. You should be able to get rid of Author and Tags. There is a Folder and a Folder Path. When you have it the way you want select Tools, Folder Options, View, Apply to all Folders. -- ~~~~ Gerry ~~~~ FCA Stourport, England Enquire, plan and execute ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Sean S" <SeanS@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:893B2BBD-CF7E-478F-8837-08845CF2512F@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi all, > > When performing a search in Vista the results show the (thoroughly > confusing > and useless) "Folder" column. > > How can I *permanently* set this to the "Folder path" column.
