Moving folders with thumbs.db or other system files

When I move a folder(s) in Vista (Ultimate 32bit and x64) that contains
system files such as thumbs.db and choose to have these files moved to the
new location along with the other files in the folder, the source folder is
not deleted as it should be. An empty folder remains. This occurs as well
for any subfolders I might be moving that also contain system files. For
example, I move folder d:\mydata to f:\ and the mydata file contains one or
more system files. I am asked during the process if I want to move the
system files. I say yes or yes to all. The files are moved. My new F:\mydata
folder is created and all the files and folders are moved with it. However,
I still will have an empty d:\mydata folder that I must delete. The source
folder is not deleted in the moving process.

These occurs whenever I move a folder that contains system files. Either
within the same partition, between drives, or to a mapped network share.

I hadn't heard or read of this being a known problem with Vista and thought
it an annoyance I could live with while I had only one Vista system, but now
that I have added another machine running Vista, I have the same behavior
occuring on both installations.

Is there some new setting for moving files in Vista? Is this a known problem
and if so is there a fix?
