I am using Vista Home Premium. Whenever I create a new folder...or put a file into the recycle bin the system appears to freeze. I ultimately end up opening Task Manager and canceling the process. However, the operation is completed. In other words, I will create a folder (or rename it) in Windows Explorer. It will hang and I will terminate Explorer through Task Manager. When I re-invoke Explorer, the folder in question will have been created or renamed. Same thing for putting things in the recycle bin.
So, my question - is thre something wrong with my hard drive? I am able to save to create/save data in Notepad, for example. So, I don't think that's the issue.
I don't know when this started happening so I can't really go back to a system restore point (can I?).
Another note - I am a software developer, so I have been actively installing software. So, although I don't think that's a factor, the possibility does exist.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide
