Acronis True Image and Vista (Home Premium)

Has anyone had success saving and restoring a Vista Home Premium drive image
(C onto an external hard drive with Acronis, ver 11? If so, which
external hard drive did you use? Thanks.

I do it all the time!

I use a 500 gig Seagate drive in an Adaptec USB external drive housing. It
has an external power supply. I have had problems with some of the smaller
external drives that get their power from the USB port directly.

Re: Acronis True Image and Vista (Home Premium)

I got an eSATA and ATI 11 (up to date); no problems.

Use on a 120GB WD external drive with no problems

Re: Acronis True Image and Vista (Home Premium)

Thanks Richard, and all the others, for your replies.
I guess I'm taking this route, now that I see others have had success. I
was thinking "internal" drive, but why bother if an external one works well
for cloning and restoring drive images.

Thanks again.

Have you contacted tech support? The boot CD would not work on my new
machine due to the raid controller. It took a little while to get
things sorted out, but they gave me an image that did work and said
that the fixes would be included in the next release.

I thought Acronis was pretty intuitive.

That said, the full 122 pages are hardly necessary to figure out how
make an image. Many people will only use ATI to image anyway.

Yes. See my reply to lonestar.

As for fixing something in the next release, be advised that the last
release was 11 months ago, and Acronis historically puts out a new
version about once per year. You pay for it. The fix you need may (or
may not) be in the next version.

They did give me a bootable image that does work. I did not have any
problems except for the bootable CD.
