file down load

    file down load

I have down loaded the new vista file for RC1. I used the download manager
that MS provides. When finished I figured it would store it in my docs
because that's where I told it to go.

However it did not store in MY docs it stored it here:

    C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
    Files\Virtualized\C\Users\John\Documents

    09/19/2006 02:02 PM 3,855,847,424
    vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x64fre_client-lr1cxfre_en_dvd.iso
    1 File(s) 3,855,847,424 bytes

I used the dir/s to find it, windows search would not find it.

Now that I have found it HOW do I get it to a CD. Windows doesn't see it.
The Attrib command does nothing to it and access to it is denied.
I can not down load the file again MS says I have done it too many times.

Any one know how to get this file to a manageable area on the drive.

Oh I have many GB free

    thank you for you help

    RE: file down load

    Yes an interesting one.
I thought I would try to get it across the network. I set the disk up for
sharing. I gave permissions for everyone to have full control across the
whole of the C Drive - really safe!!. I got through to
c:\Users\Demo\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows and then hit a problem. The
temporary Internet files folder is access denied as are a number of other
    interesting folders.
I even thought of trying to fool it by accessing it from a Linux machine but
it has now killed ALL acess to my windows network from my Linux Server.
All because someone sent a file to a folder that was different to the one
    they told you about!!!

    RE: file down load

    I now have a solution.
There is a post on June 18th regarding the same problem.
    Go to Windows explorer.
Type in the address bar the full path as you have it written in your post
and you can get to the file.
It is important that you get beyond the
    C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
    > Files\Virtualized

stage as these folders do not appear in the partial searches that appear as
you go along. Thereafter you can get to the C\User\John part of the path OK.
It is a great pity that MS did not act on the June post and fix it for this
    release!

Yesterday was the first time in my life I used a newsgroup so I thought I was
doing OK just to reply. Whatever a reply to group is I don't know how to do
    it!
