| | Start > Programs: how do I customize? From the "Start" menu in XP, I was able to arrange programs into hierarchical groups, and add programs to the "Startup" folder (programs that launch at startup).. All these tasks were done using Windows Explorer in "Documents and Settings" I would be grateful if someone could advise me (or provide a link) how to do this in Vista. Thanks. .. |

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. You can click Start and then right-click All Programs and select Explore All Users and get to the same location. The user specific start menu folder is in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Then you can arrange things as you like. "techie" is stuff like backup, defrag, CCleaner, anti-virus, firewall. "games" is games. I use "Microsoft" because all the geeks who are showing me how to do something on my laptop always look for a Microsoft directory. "utilities" is any other apps, music, graphics, editors, etc. Then you can do sub-folders within folders.
