removing explorer toolbars

Is there a way to remove the toolbars in explorer? The one that says
organize / views / burn / and so on... Also itd b cool to remove all the
toolbars at that. I dont need a back and forward button or file / edit
/view... I am in windows standard view not in aero mode so file edit view
never go away. As with aero mode the windows are just so fat and that drives
me banannas lol

Also once the window is wide enough there doesnt seem to be a way to get rid
of the treeview of folders on the left.

I dont really wanna see all these controls for dee dee dee users ;P Right
click rules dont waste my working screen space with stuff i never ever clik
on!!!

Re: removing explorer toolbars

Hi,

Organize/Layout/Navigation will remove the treeview. AFAIK, there is no way
to remove the organize/view/burn toolbar.

Re: removing explorer toolbars

hello, I realize this an old thread, I don't suppose anyone has figured out how to git rid of this yet though?

I have found that it's not there in safe mode. Now if we could just get rid of it in normal mode.

Re: removing explorer toolbars

Hi Traker

No, the command bar is an integral part of windows explorer.

There are many third party windows explorer replacements out there.

Re: removing explorer toolbars

If its so tied in, Why is it not there is safe mode. Is there a different shell altogether in safe mode, Or is it a program that doesn't load in safe mode?

Re: removing explorer toolbars

Traker

Apples and oranges! None of the GUI features will display in Safe Mode. Safe
mode only loads the basic components for troubleshooting.

The command bar isn't just a static menu, it's dynamic, which means that it
is always changing depending on what the user is doing.

Re: removing explorer toolbars

Hello everyone out there. I know that this thread is old (wow I just realize that I'm doing the same thing as traker did), but I have the same problem and I was hoping for an answer. please anyone out there with a registry edit or anything. I don't want to chuck explorer for something else, just get rid of that useless bar...

Re: removing explorer toolbars

Which toolbar are you referring to? The one with Organize, Views, etc? Is
there a reason you want to hide it and that it would cause you to stop using
explorer?

If the safemode explorer is a separate shell, does anyone know how to use it with standard mode functionality? Third party shells are never integrated well enough to use full time. Safe mode is lightweight (like you can configure every other version of windows to be). Vista's morbidly obese UI is the primary reason I find it unusable out of the box.
