Documents folder location cannot be recreated

Unfortunately, when I moved the location of my Documents folder to driv e D, I failed to specifiy a new name (thinking that Documents would automatically be recreated).

Now, when I try to go back to the defaul location, I get the error message "Failed to build the list of regular subfolders under "D:\System Volum Information" Access is denied.

Is there any way to get around this? Or to simply create a new Documents folder and start again?

If you just did this, you might want to try a System Restore first.
Otherwise:

If a Documents folder doesn't exist, type in the Search box - shellersonal
[enter]

A new Documents folder will be created, with the hidden system desktop.ini
file inside it (which enables the special icon). The default location for
the folder is C:\Users\(Username)\Documents.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders]
"Personal"="C:\\Users\\YourName\\Documents" (Make sure you have the string
value "Personal")
