Vista - User Folder Folders - Access Denied

Once I have set hidden and system files and folders to be displayed in
Folder Options I can see some familiar folders like SendTo, Cookies
Application Data, etc. But for some reason the icons have shortcut overlays
on them and I can't get into them - Access Denied. This happens even with
UAC turned off and running as administrator. My account seems to have full
permissions for these folders, but I see that SYSTEM is the owner of these
folders How do I get into these folders.

One of these folders is called My Documents. What is that? There is a
folder called Recent which I actually can get into, but it has a shortcut
overlay. Why?

I want to be able to edit my SendTo shortcuts, delete some cookies, etc. So
how is this done now?

They aren't really folders, they are programmatic junction points. They are
only there for application compatibility. I'm sure you have noticed that
'Documents and Settings' has been changed to 'Users', along with several
similar folders. Thats why you are seeing so many familiar folders like
that. When a program tries to access 'Documents and Settings', it is
forwarded to 'Users' without evening knowing that anything has changed.

So they are strictly OS system files, which is why they are marked as
hidden. You really have no need to have access to it.

Right, I see. I've now found the the folders I was looking for in AppData.

But it is still a pity that I can't get to SendTo, Cookies, etc, by just
typing the names in the Start>Run box like you could with XP though..

Which version of Windows Vista are you using? It hat works perfectly in
Windows Vista RC 1 if you select Windows key + R and then type Sendto in
the Run box then the Sendto folder appears.

I'm using the (post RC2) Build 5840, and it doesn;t work for me. When I do
it, a Access Denied dialogue box pops up with the address of the shortcut in
the User Folder.

I'm wondering if this is due to PATHS in Environmental Variables being any
different with my build.

This is what I have in mine at the moment. There is some extra stuff there
for QuickTime and Adobe, as I have these softwares installed:

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\AGL

I'm now running RTM, and I still can't access sendto or cookies through the
Run box, like I could with XP.
