| | files are read only when extracted from Zip folders Hello, Whenever I extract a file from a zip folder or from a zip file from the network, the file is set to 'read only'. That's annoying. Any way to change that? Thanks Jeannette |

| | Re: files are read only when extracted from Zip folders Hi Jeannette, All folders appear "read only", this attribute only applies to files. The appearance of that attribute in a folder's properties is misleading. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Jeannette" <Jeannette@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:870BF9A9-8E41-47F9-A83E-8FBC93C2F6F7@microsoft.com... > Hello, > > Whenever I extract a file from a zip folder or from a zip file from the > network, the file is set to 'read only'. | | Re: files are read only when extracted from Zip folders So how is it that when I try to open the file my program warns me that it is read only and that after I change the properties it opens ok?. I solved the problem. I installed my old trusty PKzip Explorer that I was using in W2k and that works fine.
