| Guest | XMP tagging for PDFs no go! I know there are list of formats that XMP in Vista cannot tag but I didn't expect PDF's to be one of them. Especially as XMP is Adobe's own. Basically I want to tag my file, those being PDF (and PSD) with the built in tag with Vista, but it does not let me. I know PDF is going through a standardization process at the moment, I don't know if things will change. aybe I'm wrong. Can anyone help |

| Guest | RE: XMP tagging for PDFs no go! As far as I know, you are limited to TIFF and JPEG at this time. And its mostly Exif, with some (but not all) properties from the Dublin Core namespace. Check the MSDN docs, its documented under WPF. The XMP specs allow XMP blocks in a number of different file formats (including PDF 1.4 and higher and PSD) as well as sidecar files (XMP is stored in a text file with the same file name, but with the extension .XMP). But this does not mean that WPF has to support al of them. It does allow you to create your own file format filter for metadata, full text (search), thumbnailing and preview. Be aware, though, that interoperability is a true challenge. Nested keywords are handled totally different in Adobe Lightroom, MS iView (soon Expression Media) and Vista Photo Gallery - none of these apps map to each other... :-( "Samuel" wrote: > I know there are list of formats that XMP in Vista cannot tag but I didn't > expect PDF's to be one of them.
