| | cutom setting for the folder locations Hi, I'm dual-booting the Vista Business x64 with XP Pro (and will for some time, untill most aplications run flawlessly on Vista . For disk spaceefficiency, I'd like to keep a Program Files folder in a common place (partition) for both OS'es - how do I do it? Of course, only the Vista's Program Files (X86) should be physically the same as the XP's Program Files... Similarly, I'd like the My Documents folder to be physically the same place (on a separate partition, preferrably). Thanks for you suggestions! Piotr |

| | Re: cutom setting for the folder locations I would not recommend sharing the Program Files directory between OSs, particularly XP and Vista. You can customize the Documents location by right clicking on Documents in Explorer and then going to Location. steve "Piotr Wozniacki" <p.wozniacki@wp.pl> wrote in message news:7A7122DE-8409-4348-86D2-9969E6501F1C@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I'm dual-booting the Vista Business x64 with XP Pro (and will for some > time, untill most aplications run flawlessly on Vista . | | Re: cutom setting for the folder locations Thanks Steve for the "Location" option - works great for all special folders! | | Re: cutom setting for the folder locations Just want to add that you might want to take a look at your file permissions as well - the account in XP is unknown to Vista (and vice versa). If you start changing the access rights you will run into trouble ![]() This only applies if you actually have any permissions set on your documents folder ![]() "Piotr Wozniacki" <p.wozniacki@wp.pl> skrev i melding news:7A7122DE-8409-4348-86D2-9969E6501F1C@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I'm dual-booting the Vista Business x64 with XP Pro (and will for some > time, untill most aplications run flawlessly on Vista .
