| | Re: Cannot Find Downloaded Files Hello, This happens when you download files to a security-restricted place on your computer. Examples of security-restricted places include: C:\ C:\program files\ C:\Windows To see these files, browse to the place to which you attempted to download them, and then click "Show compatability files" in the toolbar. You should only download files to folders that you created or are inside your user folder (such as Downloads and Documents). If you want to put a file you downloaded inside a security-restricted folder, you should first download it to one of your folders and then move it to the security-restricted folder - this will prompt you for permission and then succeed. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ |

| | Re: Cannot Find Downloaded Files Hi, I can't find "Show compatability files" in the toolbar. Also all my files are saved in C: I have no other place to store them. Is there any way I can take security restriction off it? Or have you any other suggestions? Sorry. |

| | Re: Cannot Find Downloaded Files Hi, I cannot find "Show compatability files" in the toolbar. How do I get it?? Also I am downloading the files to documents downloads pictures etc. and I still cannot find them. I only have one drive C: and if this is restricted I have no where else to download the files to. Do you have any other suggestions Thanks! |

| | Re: Cannot Find Downloaded Files When I said C:\ was security-restricted, I meant the actual root of your C drive, not any of the other folders it contains. Show compatability files is only displayed if the location you are looking at contains compatability files. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ |

| | RE: Cannot Find Downloaded Files Hi, I didn't fix it, I just use Mozilla Firfox now, it works fine. I'm still not happy though, after paying €200 for vista and Internet Explorer 7 dosn't work. Your only real choice is to get firefox, I know you can't download it so you might have to use a friends pc and put it ontp a CD or USB key. It's so frustrating, I'm glad to here somebody else has this problem and it's not just me. I brought my Laptop to PC World an they installed Firefox on it for me. Good Luck!! | | RE: Cannot Find Downloaded Files This is ridiculous - I have turned off the user control but still get the popups, I have tried to download files from various websites and after 100% the file is not there - when I try to download to the root of c: it says I don't have access to this folder. I changed security settings for my user (administrator) and got tons of errors on different files. It does not matter where I download files to documents, desktop etc. the file is renamed ..exe.(and a bunch of letters on the end) and won't run. What is up with this Vista? Why can't we just have a choice to access files, folders, and not use their stupid security features??? "Cannot Find Downloaded Files" wrote: > Please help me!
