Details View Column Width Defaults (Registry ??)

Probably a bit of a hard one here.

In Explorer windows, one very annoying thing is how narrow the Name column
is set in Details View by default. It is such a pain to have to make it
wider all the time.

Is there a way to make the default around twice as wide? Is there a value
in the registry somewhere that can be changed?

Thanks.

ss.

Right click on the Name column header and select either of the first
two options. Size all columns to fit suits me on first impressions.
I only discovered the option through researching your question.
Thanks!

Hope this helps.

You still have to do that in each folder.

Re: Details View Column Width Defaults (Registry ??)

You can set this via 'Apply to Folders' on the 'View' tab of the 'Folder
Options' dialog. However, unlike XP, Vista does this on a per-template
basis. So you need to configure and apply templates for 'All Items',
'Documents', 'Pics', 'Music Icons', 'Music Details', etc. Column
configuration is remembered even if you set an icon style other than Details
to be the default.
