| | How to make a full Vista MCE backup without the Video? Folks, Does anybody know how to use Windows Vista Backup utility to copy my main hdd to a smaller older ATA hdd without copying or backing up the videos and recorded TV? The full backup requires144 GB of room and I only have 114 GB of room. I should have more than enough without the video, but the backup program doesn't give me the option of doing a full backup without the Video folders. I spent my budget on the new computer and Vista Ultimate operating system and can't afford a fancy new external hdd to backup my computer to. Any suggestions anybody? Thank You, Andy |

Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management. Right-click on your C: drive and select 'Shrink Volume'. Give yourself enough free space to create a storage partition. Once you move the large files to the new data partition, C: will be much smaller. fwiw, a 300GB HD with external USB 2.0 case only costs about $100. Lee |
