Another My Documents question

In XP I can go to properties of 'My Documents' and change the target so that
all of the contents of that pseudo (don't know its proper name) folder live
on a mapped network drive.

In Vista, I can do the same for individual folders within the 'Documents'
folder, but not to the Documents folder. (it doesn't have a properties option)

Am I missing something ? . Can anybody tell me how to achieve the same as I
used to in XP

TIA
Frank H

Re: Another My Documents question

You may be able to accomplish what you want with the DOCUMENTS folder under
USER but not with the My Documents junction folder.

Re: Another My Documents question

If you right click Documents on your Start menu and select Properties,
Almost all of your select programs are there,
Browse thru all the tabs.

Re: Another My Documents question

This is how it works in comparison to XP:

XP: username>My Documents>My Music
>My Pictures

Vista: username*>Documents
>Pictures
>Music
>Downloads
>Searches
>Favourites
>Links etc.

Note how Music and Pictures are no longer sub folders of Documents anymore,
they can be redirected individually but I havent found a way to re-direct the
"username*" folder, where above folders are kept. Though it may not be
necessary to do so as the main folders in the profile folder can be manually
re-directed

Re: Another My Documents question

The Documents folder under User is the new name for My Documents in XP. I
have not found a need to change the location of the Documents folder so I
can't comment if it's location can be changed.

I sometimes create sub folders under Documents to handle any sorting needs I
have.

Re: Another My Documents question

Frank

The old XP folder 'Documents and Settings' is now the 'User' folder in
Vista. The old 'My Documents' folder is now Documents in Vista. The "My"
designation for user folders was retired in Vista.
