| | Extremely Slow Indexing One week with Vista and I've got a long list of problems. The most annoying is Indexing - I have spent a great deal of time trying to get the function to work properly. Personally I cannot see the point, I was very happy with the simple search facility in XP. Anyway here goes - as part of the diagnostic process I checked out Windows Vista Community > Finding & Organizing Files > Indexing Bug ???? Although the problem isn't the same, some of the ideas were helpful. I have tried many of the suggestions contained in the thread to resolve my perceived problems and have now realised that the Indexing is Extremely Slow on my machine (Sony Vaio VGN-G118GN with 1.33GHz processor). My last attempt to get indexing working for me was to restore it to its original settings this morning at 8am, it is now 4pm the machine has been running all day and the number of items indexed has reached the grand total of 6,143. At this rate it will take another year at least before it has completed the task. Please help. |

| | Re: Extremely Slow Indexing Can you verify that your laptop correctly reports its power state - that is, it knows when it's plugged into the wall plug?
