| | "Lost" downloaded files I am starting up a new computer and downloading a number of files. Problem is that while the system says the file has been downloaded I can only rarely find it. The process shows that files are downloaded into the /usrs/xxx/download folder. If I try to re-download the file I get a message telling me that the file is there. But, when I look into the directory it is not there. I have on occassion seen lists showing my download folder with files in it but most of the time it is empty. Any idea of what is going on here? Are directories stored in a cache that does not get written? |

If indeed when re-downloading the file it confirms that it's already there in the downloads folder somewhere, I would check to make sure it's not hidden or super-hidden. Go to the downloads folder, click "Organize" at top of window, select "Folder and Search Options". On the "View" tab, check off "show hidden files and folders". Also check off "hide protected operating system files" (I would uncheck that one later, though). See if the files appear. If they still aren't there, you can try moving your Downloads folder to a new location. Right-click the Downloads folder and select "Propeties". Click the "Location" tab and change its location. Other than that, I can't think of what could be going on with your downloaded files. -=plazticsoul=- |
