defrag utility and page file

Can Vista's built-in defragger defrag the pagefile?

Re: defrag utility and page file

Hi,

Generally defrag utility is built-in but not to defragment individual
files - only whole partitions or mount points.

The answer is no. The pagefile and the mft are not defragmented. The
Microsoft provided Defragmenter is a cut down version of Diskeeper
and that does defragmenter the files in Boot Mode. You have to buy
Diskeeper or use pagedefrag available for free from Microsoft.

Hope this helps.

Re: defrag utility and page file

Hi,

Of course answer is no - I didn't say that using defrag you can work with
individual files ;-)
