Moving folders from one hard drive to another

I'm having some confusion with Vista.
When I move a folder(s) from one hard drive to another I notice all the
directories are still on the source drive. Every folder has no files but why
do they remain in the first place?

How, specifically, are you performing the move? By design, if you
simply left-click and then drag a file or folder from one physical or
logical drive to another, Windows default action is to copy the
file/folder. Left-click & drag between two folders on the same
partition will move the file/folder. (Actually, nothing really moves,
directory is simply updated to reflect the change.)

If you truly wish to move a file or folder from one drive (physical or
logical), right-click and drag to the new desired location. When you
release the mouse button, you'll be prompted to select Move or Copy.

Re: Moving folders from one hard drive to another

I select the folders, right-click and choose move.

Original folders remain on the source disk but all folders are empty.
