| | Moving folders from one hard drive to another I'm having some confusion with Vista. When I move a folder(s) from one hard drive to another I notice all the directories are still on the source drive. Every folder has no files but why do they remain in the first place? Confused in St. Louis |

By design, if you simply left-click and then drag a file or folder from one physical or logical drive to another, Windows default action is to copy the file/folder. Left-click & drag between two folders on the same partition will move the file/folder. (Actually, nothing really moves, directory is simply updated to reflect the change.) If you truly wish to move a file or folder from one drive (physical or logical), right-click and drag to the new desired location. When you release the mouse button, you'll be prompted to select Move or Copy. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. -Bertrand Russell |
