| Guest | permissions problem? I have just reinstalled my computer and I think I have a permissions problem? I have a feeling that the registry is not allowing programs write to it? Most of my main programs are working fine, but I have problems with others??? The problem I am having was covered by a post I did a little earlier on in the day. ----------------------------------------------- I have just reinstalled windows vista ultimate and to the greater part it went alright. The problem I am having though is some programs are being a pain. The problem is that when some programs start up there is a installer configuration that insists on running each time and every time. The programs I am having problems with ran alright in the last install so I do not know what is causing this problem. The program I am having a problem with are the latest version of mindmanager (version 6) and Microsoft expressions web. When Mindmanager started up the installer popped up to finalize the configurations. The happened every time. In the end I uninstalled the said program. Web expressions seem to be doing the same thing. I am getting other things wrong, like certain files do not seem to register right, IE I have installed a RAW plugin for my cannon camera so that I can view .CR2 files in explorer. It is not working, all I get is a generic Adobe icon. If a cursor file has a program associated with it I lose the icon. Same with animated cursors. I know people will reinstall windows but it is such a pain in the backside I will muddle through at the moment. ------------------------------------------------------ Any help would be gratefully appreciated. P.S When I run a program like isobuster (I have paid for the full version) it asks me to enter my reg details to make it the full version. I do. When I restart windows and run isobuster again it will ask again for the reg details. This is why I think it is a registry problem, IE the registry is not allowing certain keys to be written to? | Guest | Re: permissions problem? Have you tried running each of these programs with Administrator privileges? Right-click the program shortcut, select Run as Administrator and then see if that helps. Then try running normally - do the programs stop trying to reinitialize? They could well be requiring Administrator rights and aren't implicitly asking for them, which is why they can't write certain registry keys. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included.
