| | Grep Hello Help with "GREP" and VISTA I have used several of the grep utilities that are shareware and they seem to have the same issues. When searching a specific file or for *.log these programs only read the shadow copy of the file. I think I can turn off the Shadow Copy and It should work fine. But I like that feature for dealing with logs. Is there a way to force the filename to the actual copy? Or any other suggestions? |

If you're just wanting to find and read logs, see if Agent Ransack will work with Vista. It's a great, free searching program that I always use on XP boxen. I haven't tried it with Vista so YMMV. This isn't grep, but it might meet your needs. http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/ Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |

| | Re: Grep Well thanks for the suggestion. I have tried this exe and it also is reading the first version of the file and not the current one.
