Right click > properties > Change icon button. Desplays old XP ico

"Hi i upgraded from windows XP to Vista ULT."
*If i right click on a folder to change its icon property.
*The viewer opens and desplays icons from windows XP.
*Changing my icon or selecting basic icons such as "folder" (when applied)
will show as Vista icons.
*If there is no vista counterpart icon then it will apply that icon from the
list.
*How would one see Vista icons [in the change icon preview] window and not
old icons from XP.

Kitkat

Which file is showing in the "Look for icons in this file" box at the top of
the dialog?

For XP, the default was Shell32.dll and for Vista, it should be
Imageres.dll. Use the browse button to select the Imageres.dll file and this
shopuld show the Vista default icons.

When you click to change an icon, the file that holds the current icon for
the folder is displayed.

Re: Right click > properties > Change icon button. Desplays old XP

"Hi ronnie thank you! i knew it was the wrong file just not which."
*Yes Shell32 was showing and yes Imageres now shows the vista icons from
selection.
*I right clicked properties on a folder from vista made in vista and no by
default it shows Shell23 but selects vista icons if Imageres has a
counterpart of that exact icon IE Folder My computer ext.
*How do i change Imageres to display as default icon selection folder?

PS. Im sure this intire subject has been asked before just not worded so
good so i type my own

Hi Kitkat

I don't think there is a way to change which file will be shown in that
dialog, by default. It is programmed to show whatever file the current icon
resides in.
