| Guest | Rename a shared folder in Vista possible? I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 and find that when I share a folder for network access, the system selects a share name for me and doesn't allow me to change it. This forces me to name the actual folder what I want the sharename to be. For example: I have 2 drives and a folder on each named MEDIA. I want to share both folders and name one of them MEDIA-C and the other MEDIA-D. What I get is MEDIA and MEDIA1 which is selected by Vista and unchangeable. I know that XP had no issue with renaming and allowed you to change the sharename of the folder to whatever you want. Why not in Vista? Is this just an x64 issue or for all of Vista? This has been very frustrating and confusing why the "enlightened" people at Microsoft would remove a feature. I thought Vista was all about "empowering" people? |
