    some files are not showing

some of my files aren't showing up in a folder.....they are picture files, i
copied from 1 folder to another and they ARE there. i edited them in paint
shop pro and saved as a new file name. the original .pcx and .tga file are
still in the folder, but the new ones are not. i can see them in paint shop
pro( i can see all the .pcx and .tga files) and open and work with them. in
paint shop pro i can see that there are 8 picture files, there are 6 .pcx
files and 2 .tga files, but when i open the folder through my computer only 1
..pcx and 1 .tga file shows up. ive done a drive search for the files and it
can't find any by that name. any help would be appreciated.

im using vista home with the latest updates

Vista's Explorer windows have (IMHO) two serious flaws:

    1) The display of a folder's contents may not accurately reflect what
actually is in that folder until the display is refreshed (most easily done
by pressing the F5 key), and

    2) The contens of item in the folder tree which seems to be selected in the
left-hand pane may not be displayed in the right-hand pane until you
actually click on it on the left. Simply shrinking the tree to the parent
of a displayed folder will not display the contents of the parent -- the
contents of the now hidden child are still shown on the right.

In your case, if you doubt what you see, press F5 and see if that fixes the
    problem.

However, I believe that a computer program should be able to refresh its
displays automatically. Unfortunately, Vista is inconsistent in this.
