Error when deleting file, file is in use

Hello,

i'm a software developer and i installed Vista last week.

I have the problem, that when i open a file, no matter what kind of file,
even a textfile, and try to delete it after closing it, i get the message
that the file ist used by a user or a process.

The only way at the moment is to reboot the computer and then delete it.

Can anyone tell me what happens there?

The problem is:
In my Development System, i compile an exe-file, and after changing the code
and compile it new, the program tries to delete the file, but can't. So i
have to restart the system after every single new line..

I hope anyone can help me.

Martin

I used a product called Unlocker, http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ in XP.
Apparently it also works in Vista in the latest incarnation.

Hi Martin,

Did you check Task Manager to see what is using these to prevent them from being deleted?

You can stop and restart "explorer.exe" instead of the whole computer for a workaround until you get a better solution. Here is a link for how.

Restart Explorer
